I was shooting the ocean from atop the cliffs near Pescadero, CA when this lone fisherman came into view. He was dwarfed by the mighty Pacific so I played with that idea and did not zoom in any further. The light was very favorable that morning with the sun appearing and disappearing intermittently.

C&C are always welcome.

I love this, Igor. From the thumbnail it looks like a much smaller, more typical shore detail. And I agree, the softer lighting looks great. One really has to see the larger image to appreciate all the detail, with the bend of the rod, the incoming surf, even right down to the footprints and the shore birds at upper left. Techs look good, and I think it was a wise choice of focal length to emphasize the scale and context. This is a piece that a sport fisherman would be proud to hang on the wall.

Igor

This deserves a place on a wall.  Simply stunning and the detail is wonderful.  Just one to gaze at.  Great shot!

Beautiful, Igor. Love the colors, patterns and mood. The dark area top right I find to be a minor distraction. I might play with a dodge or crop and see if it makes a difference. Very minor, though. Works quite well as presented.

Thank you for the suggestion. I dodged the area to reduce the darkness.

Nice image Igor!  Nice concept and well composed.  The lighting, colors adn detail are very nice.  The dodging on the repost makes it even better!  Well done!

What a gorgeous photograph Igor. Congratulations on the Weekly Pick.

This image offers so much in the form of pure graphic appeal. The curves formed by the waves are mesmerizing. As someone who has spent a great deal of time in these parts, I think you have really managed to portray the essence of this beautiful coastline.

The inclusion of the fisherman as a nice touch. The small area that he occupies within the frame is perfect and goes a long way in showing our interaction with the great ocean.

Igor, Congratulations on a wonderful WP. I really enjoy looking at this picture. Man is small, the ocean big and powerful... I love how you photographed this. devil Nick

Well done Igor.  It’s been a while since I checked in on the man/nature gallery.  I’ve got to expand my horizons.  Love the image.  The power of the ocean is very evident and the scale is perfect.  Congratulations on the WP.

Igor: what a wonderful example of Man and Nature. The small size of the man walking on the beach is contrasted by the vastness of the ocean. The straight lines and curves of the waves are appealing. My only suggestion would be to increase the contrast just the tiniest  bit. Richard

Congrats on the WP, Igor. The diagonals with the surf work really well and the fisherman provides a nice sense of scale to the scene. Beautifully done.
