Eva, I have often thought how sad that you made your trip to Yosemite at a time when there was too much smoke, but it is almost beginning to seem that this is what we now get in summer. It's upsetting to tourists who come from far away, and it's upsetting to those of us who live closer but can go other times of year.

From our local news this morning regarding the Ferguson Fire...
The containment dipped back to 25-percent, but just a minimal 727 acreage growth overnight for an estimated total of 38,522 acres. Visitors have until noon today to leave Yosemite Valley and Wawona in Yosemite National Park as those areas will shut down through Sunday due to smoke and fire suppression efforts.
So far, there is only a single structure destroyed, but sadly, a CalFire dozer operator was killed when his dozer rolled over. There have also been several fire fighter injuries. The fire is now very near the 2013 Rim Fire scar, so the crews will use that to help stop the fire on the northern edge in the Stanislaus NF.
We had some pretty nasty smoke here in Columbia, Eva, but it's been better the last few days. With containment increasing, smoke production is reduced, but the plume's direction is governed by the wind direction. therefore, it could get bad here again before the fire is out.

In spite of the haze, I rather like the lines in this shot. It is indeed to plan a vacation to a place like Yosemite and find this. We were experiencing similar conditions here in our National Parks in Colorado, but the monsoons have started. Now our problem is flash flooding in the burn scar areas.

I have always found this granite mound to be very interesting and from this perspective you have made it look quite spectacular. The haziness adds to the sense of size.
Yep, its sad with all the damage from the fires and the impact on both tourists and the nearby businesses.

It really is a shame about the fires. You did a very nice job with this composition and all the haze / smoke does tell a story.
