With the start of the spring migration here in the Pacific Northwest, I now find that the American Goldfinch is the most common bird I am now seeing.  It didn't take long for nesting and fledging; I have already seen juveniles being fed by the male Goldfinches.  I like the pose on this male.

Iso-1000, 200-500 at 500 mm, F7 .1, 1250th, D 500, tripod, fill flash at -1, -1/3 EV, Adobe camera raw 10.3, Topaz adjust, TK sharpening action at 40%

Love the head turn and the quirky perch. Good detail and a nice bg. You might consider taking out the second highlight in the eye.

Hi David,

I'm amazed at the low levels of noise in the newer dslr's.  Very nice results with rich colors. As Phil pointed out, the second catchlight from your flash can be cloned out.  Good job on getting this feisty finch. Well done.....................Jim

Stunningly beautiful, David.  I love the pose, the perch, all of it.

Great perch and pose, David, and excellent detail.  I think this is a female, as the males usually have a black cap or forehead patch.
