As everyone knows the sun sets late in Alaska. However, just before sunset the sun blasts it's last light at a very low angle, illuminating everything as though with a flood light. It's really quite a show when the cloud cover is just right. This is a the headwaters of a great grayling river. Please share your thoughts.

The golden light on the yellow grasses is a show.  Nice that the pipeline is shaded.  Did you have to put down the fly rod for a while when the light came?

Igor, the golden light on the foreground is lovely.  Having the pipeline in the shade keeps it from dominating the scene.  The sky is also nicely interesting.  It's a lovely scene that says a lot about human's interactions with nature.

Great light and sense of the place as the pipeline passes through. The background clouds provide a real nice sense of depth, too.

Hah. As a matter of fact this was one of Alex's favorite spots for grayling. The smooth water around those boulders had a few but the faster water, surprisingly had many more. We released just about everything. This was shot with a tripod as it wasn't a very long hike. You pretty much have to bushwack through those yellow plants that are about waist high.

Here's a picture of Alex with one. Instead of raising the dorsal fin we just combed his hair up. Lol.

The golden light on the brush is beautiful Igor.  I too agree that the pipeline in the shade helps to not make it dominate the scene.

This is a beautiful shot. It is well composed and the light is really sweet. To bad the pipe line is there.

Superb far North Alaskan landscape that happens to contain the Trans Alaska Pipeline, Igor!  The light is gorgeous and you composition is excellent.  The stream gives it depth and the clouds and mountains in the distance capture your eyes more than the pipeline.  I think Alyeska Pipeline Service Co. would be very interested in this photo!

Hah. Thanks Gary. I should have thought of that. Most of the time I was trying to avoid getting that pipeline in the image.
