Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, too, Gary. I always enjoy your images, and this one is no exception. You B&W processing is enviable. I love the sheen on the water--something difficult to achieve. The composition works very nicely, and the scene itself is fabulous. Well done, sir!

What! Where is the desert, Gary? All kidding aside this is absolutely superb with the rich tones and details that shine in the large version. The water draws me nicely into the scene and your chosen SS has rendered some nice silky tones in the river. This is being supper picky; and it certainly is an easy fix; but the water looks a little noisy in some sections. I am sure that those who receive this as a gift will be immensely happy. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you also.

The curves of the rocks leading into the scene makes an ideal foreground. No nits about the conversion.

Happy Holidays to you and your family as well. Looks like I could walk across the solid river, as if a sheen of ice had formed. Rocks in all of the right places to lead my eye through the scene. The smoothed sky matches the river, very well done.

Beautifully done, Gary, great depth, feel as if I can walk right into this scene. And, a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too.

Love the sky and mountains here but would have preferred a faster SS to show the rocks beneath the surface. I've fished this river numerous times in the summer so it's nice to see it in winter white. This looks to be close to Ennis. Merry Christmas to you as well.

Gary, this is a gorgeous scene, beautifully rendered in B&W. Your processing of the sky and water in this scene is masterful, the water looks like flowing silver. Excellent work.

Gary, hope your holidays go well with lots of family time. This is a terrific view. I especially like the sheen in the river and how it sets off the rocks leading to the distant mountains. A terrific scene that will make a great Christmas Card.

Gary,
If you hadn't mentioned, I would swear this was the Eastern Sierra and the Owens River Valley - Looks like Mammoth Mt. there in the bg. But then, I haven't known the Owens river to have big boulders in it like this, so I guess you're right.
Gorgeous and great work with the b&w processing. Hey, any tips for the novice? What do you use for conversion? Nik or just PS? or some other plugin? Regardless, your b&w processing is always impeccable.
Composition is rock solid - not even a pun. ;-) Great clouds, snow on the mountains, this has it all.
Ok, I found on minor suggestion. I think you could possible bump the exposure in the willows(?) on the left above the center line. But that's getting pretty picky.
And a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours. Enjoy your holiday time!
Lon

Yeah, yeah, a gorgeous image, but how was the fishing?? A surreal look with the processing and a great scene. A beauty.
