I'm getting ready to head up into Upper Michigan later this week and just looking through a few of the pictures I shot last year while there. I just reprocessed the raw file on this one and decided to put it up here. I might have posted this because I did have a web version of it saved but can't remember if I posted it on NPN or not. I hope I can find this place again because I would like to photograph it this year. Last year I didn't have much time for my fall trip but this year I made some changes with the "Fall Art Tour" so will have some time to spend. Also hope for more color this year as last year it was windy, cold and raining most of the time. I haven't had much to post here in Landscape for the last month or so but should have some new images (I hope) when I get back. If I did post this before I hope you don't mind seeing it again. New processing on it anyway..cool

Much to like! SS for the water, fungus on the right, and you've toned down the bits of intrusive sky so they are not noticeable.

I don't remember seeing it, but either way, a real sweet fall color water scene. Looks great! Hope you find it again and it is happening, but if not, this one works real well.

I really like this image. The long, panoramic aspect of this image shows the grandeur of this river as it sweeps across the canvas. The colors are rich but not overly saturated (but close to it). Centering the opening of the river works well because there is a natural X in the composition and the river is in the intersection. There is both vertical and horizontal symmetry and that prevents a centered composition from looking static. Although if you crop the right off to the edge of the tree you get a very nice comp as well. But you lose the sweeping nature of the image.

It is almost Autumn, Nick. I cannot wait. I really like the contrast between green and yellow. The water adds a lot to the overall mood. Nice capture!

Another superb capture Nick.  What really strikes me is how you chose the absolutely perfect shutter speed for the water flow.  Is it a single image or a blend on the water flow?  It simply couldn't be better!  Loads and detail in it and I love the semi-pano perspective.  One tiny nit, and it may just be me since I haven't seen anyone else mention it, but the yellows appear a bit over-saturated.  Your photography really speaks to me; I just love it.

Thanks so much to all of you for your comments on this one! Glad you like it.
Bill, This is just one exposure as is almost all of my work. I think out of all the pictures I have here I only remember one or two being an exposure blend and a couple other being focus stacked. Probably a couple or so that were stitched for a panoramic format as well...at least so far...
The gold, yellow and reds in the U.P. really do get vibrant and in this case it had also been raining so that added to it even more. I did desaturate the yellow in this compared to the first time I processed it. I'm so glad you liked this and some of my others. Thanks, Nick

This works great for me, Nick. The pano presentation is especially nice, and the good detail throughout. The composition is lovely, and works for me as it is.

Nick,

This is gorgeous. Outstanding. Superb.  Just love this.  The semi-pano format really helps emphasize the flow and texture of the water.  And the larger view... the details are captured just beautifully.  No nits or suggestions.  Just print it.

Thanks Preston and Lon, so glad you guys liked it.
Lon, I already did a 40" print but have to get the color dialed in a bit better on the print file and do another. Think it is going to look pretty nice. Thanks, Nick

Your usual excellent processing.. carmel water is perfect, the bright yellow centerpoint could be toned down just a bit for me as it
draws my eye away...

Nick, this is very nice. I like the pano format on this, and the ss in the water is great. I'm looking forward to more of your fall shots from the UP. This is getting me excited for my own trip up to northern New England in a few weeks!

I just like everything about this image. the mood, the color, the light, the exposure and the stream just pulls you into the depth of the image. It looks like a painting. Great image.

Beautifully done Nick. There is such grace in this look of the river. And, the surrounding foliage is glowing perfectly in its autumn splendor. Your work is inspiring - makes me want to drop everything and head out there. Perhaps one day I'll make it to Upper Michigan in the fall.

I hope you have an awesome trip.

Nick, your image gives me a wonderful sense of the atmosphere. You show the dynamics of the flow in a convincing way to me, and the surrounding foliage complements it nicely.

Im am really looking forward to your recent work!
