My photographer friend Tom Haxby was here to visit for a couple of days and we had a great time. Yesterday morning I took him over to Skillet Creek and the gorge it flows through as he had not seen it in person yet. Not the best light while we were there but we made do with what we had and I did end up liking the effect it created, so maybe it wasn't bad after all...indecision This is a closer view than I have normally shot but pretty close to what my last  posted shot here was. This is a 25 second exposure with the use of a polarizer and 6 stop ND filter.
Next time I'm going to try and get right up to the falls so I can show everyone what is past this view. Hopefully not so deep that I can't make a shot there...sad Still having internet connection problems but hopefully will be able to connect part of the time.
Canon 5D3, 50mm, ISO 200, F/ 16 at 25 sec with polarizer and 6 stop ND.

Outstanding, Nick.  I think I like this one even more than your previous post.  It lacks the streaks, but the reflections and detail in the rocks and moss work very well.  Awesome image.

This is really nice.  I cannot see that there was much wrong with the light.  Well done.

Beautiful Nick. This like looking down a very inviting hallway. Wonderful light, smooth reflection, great rock and water features. Thumbs up.

This looks great, Nick.  You've tamed the sunlit parts enough to let the falling water compete in terms of interest while letting all of the calm details in the rocks show well.  This makes for a wonderfully cool and inviting view.

Nick, both this and the previous image from this location are wonderful takes IMO. Working so much in the desert environments my appreciation for anything green and with water rises to the top of the scale for me on a comfort level if nothing else. Needless to say the extremely low light here has all kinds of challenges no doubt. So, this becomes a perfect experiment with the array of filters you worked with and using a digital platform.
Very nice work as always......devil

Good eye for composing this and the development looks great.  That light looks extremely difficult, but you pulled it off perfectly.

I think the light actually worked to your advantage here, Nick.  The reflected light really helps bring out all those wonderful details and textures of the rock faces along with the clinging ferns and mosses. I like the closer crop even more than the other version. Good luck with the future wading excursion, I hope it works out. cool

I'm a little late to comment on this, but I really like this one Nick.  I like this even better than the earlier version because of the warm glow both in the water and coming through the window.  The tighter perspective also seems to work well.

This is also very nice, Nick. Unlike the first one, here the rocks look more shiny (wet) and that offers a different mood. Matches very well, in my opinion, with the smooth water surface.

Are places like this difficult to access? Just curious.

Beautiful work.

Brian, Michael and Anil, Thanks for giving me your thoughts guys! Glad you liked it.
Anil, Thanks! This place is easy to access if you go into it from either end. The center section of the gorge would be quite difficult to get into because of the high rock walls. If you enter the gorge at the upper end on Skillet Creek one can come all the way down through it (probably only about 300 yards or so). Need to drop down over a couple of falls but they are only a few feet high. A pretty cool place and only about 40 miles from my home...cool Nick

An extraordinary image for me, Nick. I almost perceive it as an abstract. Great piece of art in my opinion.
