I can't seem to pass this place by.   The butte appeared to be floating between the clouds and cloud like badlands.

Your comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

Way better large.

Compression seems to getting this one. Just printed and no sign of halos.  I took it down and reprocessed it a bit.  Hopefully the right edge will be acceptable.

Simple, yet there is a lot to see!  I love the detail in the foreground hills and stately butte. In my mind, the butte could also be a ship floating on ocean waves.

Extremely hard to do, Gary. Admittedly I hit this usually around midday, but still an awesome site. Had a few photo ops here during extreme weather. The B&W treatment is a perfect fit. I had converted one of mine awhile back too. Seems to make the area and the butte fit the viewing a bit better then most colorized images from here....laugh

Fine view of hallowed ground. I might explore a little more contrast in the butte. Also, looks like a round blob on the right edge middle? Looks okay in the print?

Good catch Harley. Noted and fixed, guess I was so concerned with the high contrast edges of the butte, I missed that blob sad.  As far as contrast goes, the butte had taken on a lot of water and was as dark as I'd ever seen it.  I didn't want to loose that attribute.

The Foreground makes it for me. Just a pillowy anchor for the Butte. I might take some off the top.

Very nice image of FB, Gary. I like the foreground and the "floating" imagery. I've been to Utah five times (always after flying into Vegas), but never made it up there due to time constraints. That area is on my must go list. I love photos from that area.

Real nice, Gary! I love the tonality and texture in the foreground. I agree with Harley regarding exploring the contrast in the butte. Very nice image, sir!

Great image Gary. I really like the B&W treatment on this. I thought about taking a little off the top clouds as well. But that is just preference.

Sweet. Reminds me of a riverboat on the Mississippi, Gary. I love all the details and nuances of the large version. This is a superbly crafted B&W.

Another incredible image, Gary.  The idea of the butte floating on the undulating landforms below really comes across. Love the tones.

This looks great, Gary. A wonderful looking scene with fantastic b&w processing. I like it all just as it is here. Really nice work you are doing!

Yes, Large is "way mo bettah".   A little bit of uneven tonality in the darks in the butte. Careful work with this would be a very nice LARGE print.  I always like to revel in the plethora of details as if I were there. I know that there are issues with everyone's screen view varying, reduction of pixels and further translation in the forum.

Nice view and execution!

Technically well done, Gary. There is a richness of tones and the sky is very dramatic. The overall composition feels a bit static from my point of view.

I particularly like the way the clouds mimic the patterns in the ground. Lovely work as always, Gary. Your SW collection is stellar!
