Another stunning B&W Gary. The foreground rock features are a great lead in. Wonderful tones and contrast as well.

Your comp really emphasizes the expansiveness of this landscape. As usual your processing looks great. Nicely done!

Looks like a John Ford western... Very nice view and your signature PP. The whites are right on the edge on my monitor.

Wow, this is fantastic, Gary. Really well composed to pull your eye into the frame. Processing gives the image a strong graphic feel. Just excellent!

Your B&W images never cease to amaze me, Gary. I love the range of tones here along with the stark beauty of this desolate landscape. Beautifully done.

Very dramatic image. Great depth and the lines in the ground lead you right into the image. Also the formations on either side act like a funnel to draw the eye.

Very dramatic comp, Gary. Your comments remind me of what Edward Abbey might have said at such a sight. As an aside, I would like to know your techniques for B&W presentation. Nice work again.

Phenomenal image, Gary. How that arc of dark rock or soil in the foreground points the viewers eye straight back with all the contours and erosion adding to this, all encompassed by the pillars of rock and the glorious clouds. Looking at the larger image, I am captured and drawn in. Another masterful black and white image, Gary.
One thing I don't get though is that Harley thinks you make these images in Idaho. Clearly this is Iowa. I drove through Iowa once, 30 years ago, at night, so I should know.
Seriously, I hope you put together a book of your images of Utah soon. Your command of black and white and the extraordinary places you seek out in Utah all come together in the stunning art you share here on NPN.

This is an amazing image and view of a place that looks like it has not been seen by human's in a long time. I love the description you put together, and it really communicates words to the image you have captured. This would be amazing to see in large print, and I feel like I am here with you experiencing the epic wide open view.
Wonderful stuff

The boomerang foreground and angled side ridges make for a nice lead. Looks to be a little noticeable haloing in the right. My preference would be for a sky not so black, but still dark to contrast with the foreground. Cool badlands you found.

Wonderful image. The composition is great and the rich tones and luminosity of the land sings. I do feel that the sky is too strong in the composition and takes some attention from the land. I think if the brightest clouds could be subdued a bit it would make a stronger statement. Also, I'm not sure that having the top of the sky so dark is necessary. Not sure about the 2nd suggestion without trying it. Great job either way.
