A close-up of one of my favorite subjects for macro photography, lichens. This one is a Xanthoria elegans growing on a rock not too far from my home.

f/11, 1/15 s, ISO 200, 100 mm macro. Focus stack of twenty pictures.

C&C welcome as usual, large version is included!

Roel

This is a fine colony of lichen, Roel.  Their orange color really stands out from the rock and I thoroughly enjoy all of the little upward facing cones.  I'm surprised that they grow is such a clearly defined oval.  The stack looks good.

Roel..this is a beautiful image, and the larger version is fantastic. A new image, and nice to share images of your favorite macro subject. One does not come across too many lichen images.

I like the orange of the lichens against the gray of the granite. Great detail and overall sharpness, which this subject deserves. I guess the stone is strongly curved since you needed a stack of 20 images at f/11. My only comment is that it could use a bit more space and a bit more asymmetry. But I guess you aimed for symmetry... Like it anyway.

The large version is a must to really enjoy the textures and details of both the rock and the lichens, Roel. Great job on the stack as everything looks tack sharp.
