Solar eclipse

This is one of the two sequences that I made during the solar eclipse last Friday. Things started with a clear sky, but literally the minute the eclipse started, clouds started forming.... So I had to adjust the exposure time the whole time on both cameras to compensate for the clouds. And my strict schedule of taking a photo every 5 minutes also didn't really work out, haha. Murphy's law! But in the end, it worked out, so I am happy.

ISO 100, 24 mm, ND 10 filter:
- One picture at 1s + f/14 and one at 3s + f/14 for the landscape and sky.
- 36 pictures at f/18 and everything between 1/4000s - 1/40s for the suns. Unfortunately I had to copy one partially eclipsed sun from the left side and rotate and past it in the right side, because of the clouds not letting me take a picture of that particular phase.

C&C welcome, especially regarding colors, since I am a bit struggling with those. Large version is included!

Roel: What a cool concept very nicely executed. I've seen many images of lunar eclipses but can't recall a solar sequence. Very nicely done.>=))>

Very well captured. I would perhaps try for more definition in the left among the foliage which appears like a mass of dark tones at the moment.

I'd say this came out great, Roel. Very well planned and executed. The starburst of sun and the details in the snow add well to the story here.

You certainly had better skies than us in the UK Roel. I like the finished product here, I would try lightening up the shadow areas though as Kah Kit has suggested.

I went the other route and opted for a long lens due to the cloud in the UK.

Cheers, Gary.

Well done, technically, and very interesting and instructive. Regarding colors, there seems a cast (slight magenta) on the snow, and uneven brightness across the sky (polarizer effect?) but that's not the point here for me.

I love what you did with the sunburst followed by the trail of the eclipse! I agree about the magenta, otherwise the color looks pretty good.

How fun! I like how this tells a story starting with the bright sunstar.

What a great idea! Combining the bright sun-burst with the eclipse sequence tells the story well. I think the stark, contrast and slightly dark exposure is a perfect match to convey the idea of the darkness created by the eclipse.

Very unique, Roel. I like the image as posted but a bit more dynamic foreground would have put it over the top.

This was really well executed and I can imagine it was no easy task. I agree that maybe a better foreground would have helped, but it still very good as is.
