The Minch, Skye, Scotland

I was actually high up on the Quiraing when I noticed this fabulous light show begin shortly after sunrise not far from the village of Staffin. At one stage this immense beam of sunlight escaped the cloud cover and scanned its way across the Minch in front of Raasay like a search light. I realised that the scene lacked a sense of scale and it was then I noticed a small cottage nestled into a small spit of land so I included it in my composition lending the scene significantly more gravitas.

That is not something you see very day! Nice capture, although I would have excluded the rock and house in the lrc. It sort of breaks the tranquility of this photo a bit for me. But this is great as is!

Stunning light show Ian and the seemingly tiny house certainly adds a sense of scale to this gorgeous scene.

I prefer the color here to the more monochrome version in the Landscape gallery. I think that I'd like to see a bit more of the land in the lower right as that tiny piece seems a bit forced in order to include the house scale giver. Probably a function of what was around the house (cars, farm equip, other houses?) Nevertheless an evocative Scottish scene with heavenly light.
