From the thumbnail I thought this was an ice abstract. Wonderful lines Ian and I love the touch of beige / salmon colored rock along the bottom.

This is awesome, with wonderful lines and textures. My eye travels freely through the composition.

Ian, I like this abstraction - however, I might consider trying to flip it 180 deg (and I'm not standing on my head to see how it looks ...). great lines and the colours are fine too.

Great, I like it a lot. You composed those patterns nicely. If I were to nitpick about something - you might have removed the sand (from the looks of it, this is a rather small area in your frame), I don't think it adds a lot to the image.

Love the detail, comp and color, Ian. A thing of beauty it is.
As a relative NPN newbie, and not picking on this photo in particular, I am somewhat confused about why images such as this are in the Landscape gallery here at NPN when there is a macro/close-up gallery also. In fact I think that Ian's fantastic ice image of a week or so ago (a WP) was in the macro gallery. Seems kind of random....

Hi Dave
I am sure it wouldn't be considered macro - close up, possibly I suppose. The area photographed is of course land and it is definitely being landscaped. It measures around 1 metre by 0.75 metres, so I suspect if I put it in that category someone else would feel it belongs in landscape and move it there. Guess thats what the moderators are for.

Excellent work, Ian as per usual. Your eye is always finding things that I'm sure many of us would walk right by. The shapes and the lines are really interesting. That and the color added by reflected light gave you a great scene. My eye wanders around picking up new pieces of the detail in this. And yes, the large is way better.

Just a superb abstract. The colour palette is most appealing.

Totally cool the colors and ways the lines compel the eye to move around in a satisfying way.
