Fredvang, Lofoten, Norway.

Cod fishing is the single biggest industry in the Lofoten economy. Vast quantities are caught and they are hung on racks to dry in all weathers for many months until they are ready to be sold. The stench from these drying fish can be almost nauseating but that does not stop Norwegians from referring to it as the smell of money. These drying cod have been opened out into the classic triangular shape and hung on the side of a derelict wooden house at Fredvang. The biggest problem was trying to negate perspective distortion at the time of taking the picture.

Please view LARGE... it works better.

I like it a lot, Ian. A nice study in understated colors, lines and shapes. And a stinky story to go with it.

This came out great Ian. I really like the subdued colors and texture of the wood. I have not scanned mine yet from that wonderful old building.

A really great composition Ian. I like the relative lack of strong color to the image and then the little bit of blue net adds a nice highlight of color to the scene as well as adding to the story about the cod.
