Wow, Gary. This is fabulous. Like you, I like the pose and expression. And I like the detail in the Mantis' head and antennae, the contrasting colors, and the nice bg. Great capture.

Gorgeous in form and color. They have always made me think of alien beings. The antennae, eyes, and expression are riviting. I used to temporarily keep these animals when I was a kid, and I noted that they always eat the head of their prey first; perhaps reinforcing in my mind the other-worldly connection. But I have never before seen a nymph.
The f/11 gave you sufficient DoF and as they remain motionless when looking for prey, the long exposure made that possible, and you used it optimally as is evident in the segments of the antennae. I would have liked to view a larger version. The abstract form of the bokeh is wonderful.

Looks like the critter is wondering about what's coming next. Great pose, excellent details, and wonderful background. I see what look like a couple of dirt spot to the right of the right antennae, but those are easy to clean up.

Again with the yellow/purple.. Why change a winning combination
I especially like the POV and head turn, looks great perched at petals edge Gary.
Ya missed a couple of sensor spots near the antennae, will have to get you some new eye glasses

This is a just a fantastic capture of a mantis, Gary! I love these bugs. Love his pose, expression, colors, details, and your DOF choice. Plus it has the cuteness factor added because of this being a baby mantis. Very fine image!

This is lovely. The complementary purple tones are perfect for this subject. I'd clean up the dust spots, but otherwise it's a really nice image.
