under the second - of three - large falls in quick succession that together are called the sipi falls on the sipi river on the western flank of mt elgon (located on the kenya-uganda border but these falls are well within uganda). the streams off the mountain come to sets of cliffs on the western flanks - resulting in scores of large waterfalls ...

this, then, in the late afternoon light, sunlight diffused by soft cloud cover.

thanks for looking - have a look at the LARGER version for more detail - and let me know your thoughts/impressions.

hasselblad 500c/m, 150mm, ilford delta 100 b&w film.

Love the light and feel of this one, Stuart. I can almost hear the splash and feel the spray.

I wasn't so sure from looking at the thumbnail, but this is actually quite nice. Very moody and tells a nice story. I would be interested in seeing what a more contrasty version looks like too.

Very interesting image. I like the feel that you have captured here. It gives a feeling of the power of the water at the bottom of a waterfall.

Ethereal and beautiful image Stuart! Love the shutter speed, and the high key B&W conversion looks great. A very well crafted image!

Man, I clicked to see it large and you use up space with that extra thick frame...
It fits great of course. Light works great here and again it has your style written all over it. The rocks feel monumental compared to the soft light and the curtain of water.

The highlights in the falling water compliment the dark rocks perfectly. In addition to the strong content presented from this lovely viewpoint, I am also enjoying the full range of tones offered here. This is really good stuff, Stuart.

Fabulous capture of the light Stuart. The dark rocks really pull this together into a beautiful b&w image. Looks like you may have got quite a drenching from your camera position? Top shot

Love how the rain really glows here Stuart. It surely does look like it is raining light. Beautiful work.
