lilies in b&w. made one still morning in some lake in parc de la maurice in quebec, canada last summer.

thanks for looking - i'm aware that this may not be usual flora gallery fodder; let me know your thoughts here, thanks.

hasselblad 500c/m, 150mm lens with 55mm extension tube, ilford delta 100 b&w film, tripod - several seconds exposure (and hence holding still and breath held ...) to try to retain DOF.

this is exceptional. The b&w is a perfect choice for this graphic and graceful scene. Light, detail, and composition are all excellent, too. Great capture

Nice comp. I especially like the lilypad in the URC and it's graceful curving stem.

Classic beauty, love the b&W choice it really breaks this image down to it basic elements of lines and patterns. Beautifully captured and processed.

Stuart:
Its refreshing to see B&W in a flora gallery where most would expect to see colorful flowers. The triangular grouping and the haphazard lines are interesting elements in this composition. For some reason, I find the faint lines along the left side a little distracting; even though these lines are very faint, the eyes are drawn there as they are different to the rest of the image.

Interesting arrangement Stuart. I like the B&W conversion. The lines from the roots work well too.

thanks to all. interesting point, gary - i actually worked to keep those faint lines to try to hint at the clarity and depth of the water. i agree that the composition may become crisper without them.

Stuart: While this may not be the usual fare it is really good nonetheless. I especially like the lone pad in the ULC. Well seen and captured. >=))>
