Cove Bay, Moray, Scotland

High tide eventually started to swirl around this beautifully sculpted sandstone ledge at the top of Cove Bay. Moray is renowned for its multi-coloured stone beaches but even by its standards this is a special little place. I waited until the tide started to withdraw from some of the inlets and was fascinated by how the white surf or spume separated and pulled back around a single stone washed into the micro fjord of eroded stone. It took one and a half rolls of film to get this one very satisfactory shot.

You have a good eye.
I like the timing of the water movement.
I wonder if contrast/saturation might not make this "pop" a bit more? Could be my monitor.
Also darkening the upper water???

This is a great capture Ian, am really impressed with the subtle lines and colours playing with each other. The highlites in the water tug my eye back and forth and the lines in the stone mimic that same action. Really great abstract I could see on my wall!!

Very interesting perspective - this could also be an image taken from a plane down into a large Bay.
Love the colours and swirling water.

Love the soft, delicate nature of this as well as the juxtaposition of the little stone.
