Gorgepus! (typing correction, augh: GORGEOUS!)
Lovely soft colours, perfect angle, wonderful graceful lines, and the high-key choice works well.
Don't think that little green blip to the left of the lower stem is needed, though!

Great placement...and a silky cream-fresh look ...yeah, I might clone out that blurb on the bottom next to the stem. Superb detail!

Very nice Gary. I really like to see the translucency of the petals. A very pleasing shot. Great use of high key, and excellent color.

Impeccable. Okay, well, the little nub of petal at bottom edge near stem could disappear…

Well done Gary. Glads can be pretty harsh but you've done a great job of the transparent pastel look to make this image very appealing to the eye. The colour of the bloom is also very sympathetic to the overall feel of it.
Yah, you might want to clone out the bit along the bottom edge.

Gary, I like this high key presentation very much. For some reason, I'm thinking of some of Larry Lynch's work as I view this. (And I'm too lazy to go searching ;^)
Since you referred to your Pitcher plant, I think of the two, that's my preference.
Regards,
Carol

Simply the best Gladiolus image I have ever seen, Gary ! The stamens and the textures of the petals are superbly captured - and the high key effect is spot on.

I like this very much Gary in all respects but it's the capture of the texture and petal translucence that makes the image so impressive to me. I'd agree with Ian, this is as fine a glad image as I've seen.

A splendor Gary! Plenty of light from everywhere, back and front at least. Harold Davis would be jealous.
Can you tell us some words about the technique?
Take care.

Thanks everyone for you kind comments.
Sandy, Catherine, Ken and Bob:
Thanks for pointing out the little bud. Have cloned it out from archival copy.
Gigi:
This is a straight forward single shot image. The flower is placed against the west facing window with a piece of tracing paper over part of the window. Taken early morning. Silver reflector for fill. Actually I was doing a series of exposures from normal to white out at 2/3 exposure interval with a view of doing some blending (ala Harold Davis) but ended only processing one image which looked the best when I open them up on the computer. PP on ACR, CS5 with shadow/highlights adjustments, levels, some desaturation.
