This is my first successful HDR radiograph. The sunflower is a little past prime but it was the right subject to test the proof of concept for HDR radiograph. The center is many times more radio-opaque than the petals so we did multiple exposures. My previous attempts at multiple exposures were unsuccessful as I did not realize that the energy level of the ray is not in a linear relationship with the kV setting on the machine. After doing multiple exposures on this flower, I think its more of an exponential relationship. This is a blend of two images at 26kV and 40kV on the mammo machine. The 40kV image only show the center with the rest of the flower virtually black. HDR blending in PS, vivezia 2.

Positive version available (click view larger version).

Dr. X-ray strikes again. Another great radiographic image. It looks like a dancer with the dangling leaves and all of the texture in the head.

Man O Man.......If XRay was'nt enough to get us all excited, here comes XRay HDR . Gary, seriously the thought that HDR was applicable to XRays too never struck me anytime .

I like the negative version a bit more than the positive - I can now relate to what your wife said "Gary spends too much time in front of the computer". With beauties like these, why not ?

Very artistic, Gary. This is the first time that I've heard the term "HDR radiograph".

This one looks very electrical "It's Alive" to me. Wonderful technique and good explanation. Had I followed thru with my post US Navy X-Ray tech. schooling, I just might be shooting too. Looks very challenging. Great job Gary!

This is very elegant Gary. In this case I prefer the negative. Beautiful image.

Wow, are these images getting sophisticated. Radiograph, blending exposures. can't wait to see what's next. This image has a pencil drawing look to it. Excellent work.

Congrats on figuring out X-ray HDR and passing along the technique. It took a much bigger jump in KV than I would have expected. Maybe I'll have time for a second try at this in a couple of weeks :). Keep up the good work.

Very cool Gary. I know that this flower is past its prime, but I really get the 'skeletal' feeling with it.
