Do not put a Bird of Paradise flower in your carry-on luggage if you are going through airport security. It shows up as a set of menacing lethal looking blades like a Swiss army knife on the X-ray.

Positive version available (click larger version)

For the color junkies, this is the same BOP as the one in this floral arrangement.

Thanks for viewing and C&C appreciated.

Very appealing - I like both creative versions - but you must realize that you have set SUCH a high standard for yourself here with the exquisite flower arrangements, that this is merely "very appealing" !

This is superb Gary and in this case I prefer the negative. This one would certainly go up on my wall.

Interesting graphical representation Gary. I prefer the positive image. With it the lines are cleaner. In the negative there are some stray strands and shadows which make the image not as crisp. Pretty picky I know. I guess I should be careful or these blades might find a target.

What makes this so interesting is that it doesn't look like a flower. I think most people looking at these would guess some part of a winged creature or other animal. Maybe a foot. I think this would make a fine psychological test - i.e., tell me what you see when I show you this picture. I have no opinion on which version is preferable as I like them both, but I do think the exposure in the negative is a little dark in the upper parts.

I still prefer the negative radiographs over the positive versions. The sharp and pointed angles to me give an "alive" look.
Very well done Gary!

O.K. Gary we are all getting tired of these ! Tired of drooling with envy at your having access to a soft tissue scanner for these fantastic shots, still very jealous here ! Beautiful work !

I like both versions, but I am a bit partial to the negative version here. I like seeing all the super fine details in your XRay shots.

I like this one a little better. I'm ashamed to say I wish it had less grain (noise). Grain used to be used for effect quite often in the old days, and now I have a hard time liking it. I wish I didn't. Love the comp and metaphor.

Gary I find this photo really great and interesting. I must say I am not familiar with X ray method (unless I see my own lungs). Where could I learn more?

Take care.

Beautiful, Gary. Having recently done my own experiments in this style, I can attest to the work it takes to reach the final form. Congrats on the EP and monthly pick.
