i was going through a folder, cleaning and erasing and came upon this from a few years back - hadn't posted it before so here it is! heading up the western breach of mt kilimanjaro - a brief break in the clouds let in some light - onto the broken rock, lightly dusted with snow.

thanks for looking and any comments and thoughts
- look at the L A R G E for the details!

Forbidding and austere. I would like to see a bit more emphasis on black.

lovely textures and mood here Stuart
I agree it can use a slight darkening of the black channel...

Stuart,

Never would have guessed Kilimanjaro - then again, what would I know about that mountain? Wonderful details throughout and I think an excellent, intimate mountain landscape. This works well in the b&w. I do think the previous comments are on to something though - maybe dropping the shadows or create more range of tones throughout the rock? I dunno, maybe.

Excellent comp and image overall.

The grand scale of the landscape as well as the harsh climate comes across very well. A powerful image.

Strong composition, nice B&W tonality. The beautifully textured foreground emphasizes the background mist.

That is quite a scene. Looks very remote and rugged. I think this makes a really nice b/w and also like it as it is here. Wonderful detail seen in your large version. Very nice!!
