Stuart,
Never would have guessed Kilimanjaro - then again, what would I know about that mountain? Wonderful details throughout and I think an excellent, intimate mountain landscape. This works well in the b&w. I do think the previous comments are on to something though - maybe dropping the shadows or create more range of tones throughout the rock? I dunno, maybe.

The grand scale of the landscape as well as the harsh climate comes across very well. A powerful image.

That is quite a scene. Looks very remote and rugged. I think this makes a really nice b/w and also like it as it is here. Wonderful detail seen in your large version. Very nice!!
