what, colour?

i liked the layers. lake turkana, in northern kenya, is the largest desert lake in the world. it is otherwise known as the jade sea and its colour changes with the orientation of the sun. this is at dawn, with the early morning sun hitting the island across the way and the glow catching the yellow sandstone below.

thanks for looking: hope you enjoy this bit of fun - thanks for letting me know your thoughts.

My thoughts exactly.... What, color? I like the layers of color and textures Stuart. I especially like the calm turquoise water.

Awesome image of a scene that very few landscapers would have considered worth a landscape photograph. Even the light does not quite look like that "sweet" light we all seek for. Nevertheless this has class and quality. I only see a tiny flaw (sky, left-centre). Could be interpreted as "god beam" but is that lens flare or a scanning issue? Maybe just a "god beam"...

thanks didl and eva.

eva - this is one of the windiest places on earth - it's a place of many, many extremes - and this morning was not exception. the wind has blown the water flat, only the faint lines leading away let one know that it is actually blowing!

thanks didl - glad you enjoy the scene as much as i did that morning. good eye to spot the 'flaw' i only spotted it moments before uploading and thought, well, let's see who will notice. you're too good!

Very nice layers, as you note, and it's certainly not a location that is familiar to many. There are some very nice color contrasts here. I noticed the pseudo "god-beam" as well, I have to admit.

An absolutey gorgeous mix of colors. And simple enough to be a joy to gaze at.

That's neat, Stuart. There is that abstract quality that you bring to many of your images that blends in reality in the most surprising of ways.

Stuart,

Excellent use of "colour" to craft this composition. Also, the texture and detail fade from layer to layer and I find that putting that all together makes for a successful image and one that not surprisingly is your style. The only minor suggestion (read personal opinion) is that I'm wishing for a tad more rocky foreground OR a slight crop of the sky to try and give each layer of that cake equal footing so to speak.

Nice work Stuart.

The layers and colors compliment one another beautifully in this scene, Stuart. Great eye to spot this.

Oooh, I like this. Wonderful layers and variety of colors. Love all the rich texture of the FG area too.
