pretty simple composition here, opportunistically made in sweltering mid-afternoon heat (~45 deg C). the line of clouds caught my eye. but rare rain indeed. this is made in the lava desert to the east of lake turkana in northern kenya. the line of clouds that snakes its way into the distance mirrors the ridge to the east of the lake. the curtain of rain didn't make it to the ground - but the light shone nicely through it.

thanks for looking; your thoughts are appreciated.

mamiya 7ii, 43mm, ilford delta 100 b&w film; red filter.

Interesting minimalistic composition and fascinating tones in the sky. Reminds me of the summer monsoon storms here.

Great dramatic light, Stuart, an outstanding b&w image!

My own experience with Ilford films is limited to PAN F 50 and DELTA 400. I am surprised about the rich tonal rangeof DELTA 100 even in the web presentation. Must be stunning as a print!

Simple maybe, but the light is totally captivating. There is a richness to this that makes it quite dramatic. The power of B&W.

Fantastic, Stuart. Love the tones and the simplicity of your composition. The arc of the clouds peaks volumes of the vast space of this land. Superb.

Excellent B+W here. Simple but a powerful effect. Way to go Stuart!

I also love the simplicity here--but id like to see a bit more tonal range, some richer blacks in particular.

I like the drama in the sky and "silver lining" light Stuart. Simple but beautiful.
