Monarch Chrysalis

During a nature observation walk that I led at the North Tract Patuxent River Research Refuge, we found this Monarch chrysalis.  I managed to get back twice to photograph it.  In this case on the morning after a rainy day, so there were still lots of water drops hanging onto the chrysalis.  The iso and f-stop were chosen to get the images in the water drops reasonably sharp.  (5D3, 180mm macro L, 1/250 s, f/18, iso 800, tripod)

The fisheye droplets make this pretty pool, Mark.

Wow, this is awesome, Mark!  I love the droplets.  Great detail and a very nice out of focus background that matches the green of the chrysalis.  The refractions in the drops are so sharp.  What a perfect shot.

Nice job getting the detail in not only the chrysalis, but in all the water drops along the edges Mark. This has nice color and BG. The water drops take this over the top.
