said the spider to the fly.  I'm posting two versions of this view catching the diffracted colors that some spider webs have.  I'm very interested in your reactions to the processing.  Do you prefer the darker background, the lighter background, something in between, or even something that I haven't thought of?  Should I brighten the colors?  (7D2, 180mm macroL, 1/400s, f/6.3, iso 400, tripod)

Here another large version for comparison, with less dodging of the background.  Click on the image for the large view.  From that large view, you can use the arrows to switch back and forth.

Mark, diffracted light on webs has always fascinated me. This reminds me of the star gate sequence in the beautifully photographed Kubrick classic 2001. I like the original, and it would also look good even without its occupant. This seems like a cool project for experimenting under different lighting conditions, and weather (for the dew). Thanks for sharing enlightened

Wow, way too cool, Mark!  It looks like I am looking down a tunnel.  I think I like the original the best.

Mark...having worked on iridescent webs, I personally have felt that daylight white balance brings out the colors of the iridescence better.  The darker bg is what I prefer. Having said that I love the one posted. The marginal off center and the spider sharp all works very well here. You very lucky not to have a breeze.. ;-)

Balan, I do all of my shooting in RAW.  One of the fun parts of views like this is how much the colors and their locations change as I move the camera a few inches.
