A bit of a stranger to the flora gallery but thought I would give a go at posting this image of some beach fleabane that I found behind a beach along Alaska's Kenai Peninsula a few years ago. Might have been a little heavy handed with the vignetting. Would appreciate any and all feedback on this.
Pentax 6x7, 135mm macro, Velvia. M1 scan, Tony Kuyper's luminosity masks used in processing the scan.

Larger size image provided.

Any suggestions, comments, thoughts would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

I think your image is well presented. No complaints on the vignetting - I doubt there was anything back there that would support the flowers as much as the darkness does. The very dark edges really make the flowers pop. A great "triangle" you've made with the flowers.

Vance:

Lovely to see the different stages of the flower from buds to past prime blooms. The triangular composition is fine. The larger version is a must see to view all the details.

Vance, as an admirer of your work, glad to see you post over here. I like this alot- the composition, colors, the inclusion of the buds at different stages of their life and the vignetting. No nits from me.

Vance - I think the vignette works for me. I love the implied triangle formed by the numeorus flowers.

Good to see you stopped to "smell the flowers". I like the comp and the detail tremendously. I am in a minority, but I would have liked to see a bit less vignette.

Vance: Great to have you posting over here and especially with such a solid shot. I find the various stages of the flowers showing the complete life cycle compelling. Well seen and captured. >=))>

Apart from some agreement with your thought that the vignetting might be softened a bit, Vince, I think this is excellent. A fine composition, vibrant colour and a lot of nice detail; I also love the swirls of greenery behind the blooms !!

The dark background really makes the flowers jump off the screen. Great to see you over here as well. I like the vignetting.

Nice bouquet. I see no problem with the vignetting. Looks like a wall hanger to me (:

Thanks everyone for your great comments. Very much value all your input. Should mention that the arrangement of flowers here is as it was found; the pyramidal arrangement was so amazing to find. The use of the strong vignette was to emphasize that pyramidal form of the arrangement.
Thanks again everyone.

Lovely arrangement - great colours and subtle BG.
Congrats on the WP - looks as if you've had no trouble at all applying your "landscape" skills to the "flora" gallery!

Just lovely! Looks like a professional flower arrangement except for the very natural appearance of the flowers in various stages of bloom. Fabulous Pick, congrats.

Congrats Vance,

Very nice image and beautiful composition, well done. Vegetating is great to me.
The larger photo appears a bit warmer in my monitor, maybe it is my monitor I am not sure.
