A foggy morning in a birch forest one autumn day in south central Alaska a number of years ago. The upright tree supporting the fallen tree had some meaning to me at the time, and still does today. Another fallen tree in the background is also being held up by another. An image made back when I lived in Alaska. Would appreciate your thoughts and suggestions on this.
4x5, 120mm, Velvia. Flat bed scan, TK masks and such.

Large image attached as well.

Thanks for the comments on the last image and thank you in advance for your suggestions and comments on this one.

Gorgeous, Vance. The blues set the mood beautifully. I find it to be a wonderfully haunting image.

Love the haunting quality of this image. Love the blue misty fog and the contrasting green at the top and bottom of the picture. Also love the lacy quality of the intersections of the tree branches.

Love the mood Vance! The blues add to that. Yes delicate, but also mysterious.

Wonderful blue tones in the fog add a lot of mystery to the scene Vance and I like how you composed the scene. Very well done.

I always love the mood that fog imparts to a scene, and this is no different. I also like the storytelling element to it as well. Lovely work, Vance.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Really appreciate it. Wish I could make the web version better as so much of the impact of the original has been lost.
Thanks again.

Fascinating comp Vance. I love the backdrop to the players up front. Well done; a real mood creator.

A beautiful subtle mood conveyed with the light fog, Vance. This has such a delicate feel to it. I like what you have done here.

Beautiful Vance! This image has a lot of meaning and symbolism. Very inspiring work for me personally, since I always struggle to photograph trees and forests in a way that shows more than just the tree(s).

Vance, the LF capture really comes out nicely in the larger version. Detail is excellent there. The softer feeling of the scene is emphasized with the fog layer. The allowable viewing depth by the fog is just right too. Nicely done.
