The literal translation is wild water trail, and this view of Falbesoner Bach below Greitspitze in Austria's Stubai's Alps felt well deserved. While there is no actual trail following this brook, I was able to follow it for about 1/2 mile trying to line up just the right cascades with the back/side lit peak. This was a late afternoon shot, so I was relying on the underlit peak and clouds for some dramatic impact. This standing cloud was around for most of the day, with Greitspitze playing hide and seek all day. Waited aound a bit for optimal lighting through the clouds, though this was about as clear as it got that day.

3 exposures hand blended for DR and water detail.
Canon 5DII, 17-40L, polarizing filter, 3 stop ND filter
ISO 50, f16, 1/8 sec. for the water, 1/16 for the rest of the image.

Thanks for all of the comments on my previous Sierra photo (Stan)

Joerg - I guess the same can be said of America. We have a great variety here - a life time could be spent in one area of our country and that is how many photographers here make their mark. I felt the same in the Stubai. SO much to do and see and your mountain huts make it relatively accessible. And I was only in Tyrol. While I had only 1 whack at locations during my travels, I imagine spending more time in these areas would provide infinite photographic opportunities. I so enjoyed the Austrian culture as well as the landscape. It seems that Austrians really know how to incorporate the magnificent landscape into their culture.

Very very cool spot and great motion. Might have offset the falls and peak so they were not so centered. Leaves the left side a bit empty. Panning a bit to the right and adjusting comp would take peak to the left of center and a bit stronger. That being said great light and find!!

This is just wonderful and even unknown to me as an Austrian. Great to see shots from home taken by you. This one is on my list now.

I do like it, and you've done a great job with a challenging exposure and blend. However like Aaron I feel it's a little unbalanced left to right.

A convincing presentation of this alpine scene to me, Harry. I admire the stunning dynamics of the falls, accentuated by the strong diagonals. The clouds on the summits are spot on in my opinion.

Another fine comp Harry. Wow, only one week and so many killer shots? What the heck am I doing wrong? I don't have as many keepers of the Austrian Alps from 34 years (of life)...

Didl - I was there just over 2 weeks. In adition to the Stubai, I made it over Hohe Tauern for some day hikes. That is one heck of a park. I think there are some real treasures there, unfortunately I only had a chance to see most of them on a topo map! I'll post a couple from that area in a bit. I was lucky to get a nice mix of weather, not just blue sky days.

I tried a slight crop on the left to address the empty feeling comments on that side. Feels a little tight to me. Thanks for the feedback. I do have a horizontal exposure but somewhat different lighting that my be more balanced in that respect.

Your trek lining up the elements really paid off! Excellent comp, shutter speed, exposures and blend. I think that cloud is actually an asset for this image.
