Chestnut-sided Warbler

I shot this guy defending his territory early yesterday morning. He hopped up on this stump for a second and belted out his tune.

On a technical note, this was shot at ISO 640 with the Mark II. I've applied no noise reduction to the image. The high ISO capability is truly amazing and has opened new doors for warbler shooting!

Thanks for looking!

Canon 1D Mark II/600mm IS/2x II/550EX + BB @ -2.0
1/200, f/11
ISO 640

Since I've already seen this, the initial shock is already past. And I'll say it again, this is the nicest chestnut-sided I've ever seen! Did you get him to go to the beauty parlor before showing up for your date?

Like everyone else my first reaction was what a wonderful picture.

Then I saw the camera listing. Can't wait till mine shows up!

Amazing for the high ISO. Did you use any post-processing noise reduction?

Garth,

As a fellow New Hamphire denizen, I can only ask "how
do you do it?"

Are birds more willing to pose in Ossipee than in Brookline?

Seriously, all nature photographers agree that getting warbler
shots like this is the pinnacle of what we strive for!

Do you have a few thousand dollars hanging around so I can get one of those Mark II's. Although its the photographer more than the camera. One great and beautiful shot.

If this is anything to go by, you and that new camera are going to produce mouthwatering results.
Absolutely top draw shot.
Can hardly wait till the camera is on general sale as I have been saving up for it!

Wow! What a great photo of a bueatiful little warbler. I see you shot this with a 2x converter on the 600 f4L, i can't imagine how sharp it would be with no converter, could it be any sharper? Finally i see a good shot with the 1d MkII, i was starting to wonder about that camera, most i've seen on dpreview are oversharpened, but not yours.

Awesome Garth

Not only without significant noise, but also with the ability to set intermediate ISO 3rds.
