Taken last weekend on the island of Texel in Holland. The terns were very co-operative and provided plenty of opportunities for flight shots.

EOS 1 Ds, 500/4L IS, 1.4X, ISO 200, Handheld, IS2, 1/1000th @ f5.6, cropped to vertical format.

Guy,

I haven't seen any posts from you recently. From the looks of this the wait was worth it! Absolutely beautiful. I love everything about it.

Apart from the excellence of this shot, I just can't handle the fact you take these images HANDHELD....

Simply stunning.

Hello Guy,

I think this shot is absolutely brilliant!! I love the details in the wings and the position of the bird. It is actually one of the best in flight images I have ever seen.

WOW! ... and handheld, with a 500!

Everything about this is stunning, but I particularly noticed how the feet and mandible tips make a perfect horizontal.
