Orchard Oriole

Although smaller and not as vibrant in color as his cousin the Baltimore Oriole out of the 2 this species is my favorite. I just love his cool "Silver Boots" and his shiney dress! He's always ready to go out "Sportin" as my grandmother would say!

Canon 10D
Sigam 300mm lens w/1.4 TC
ISO 100, 1/200 @ 7.1 exp. comp. -.6
Slight beak movement, due to not changing my ISO to 200 'cause I was shooting flowers just prior.
Cropped about 50%, levels, usm.

Thanks for stopping by!

Kenneth,

This is so nice, my words just won't do this any justice. The Oriole is so sharp and well illuminated. Don't think it could be improved, perfect.
PS: I haven't seen one of these in S. Louisiana in many years. When I was a youngster, these orioles were everywhere, building their pouch-like nest in pine trees and within bundles of moss hanging in live oaks. The last one I saw was about 10 years ago, and the parent was feeding a young starling. I guess you know what that means.

Amazing shot with the leaves framing the bird nicely. The details look great which can be very hard to get right on dark looking birds, well done.

Extremely well executed capture - that open beak gives it life. Nice work. :toast:
