WC #316 - A Change in the Weather

Nikon D2Xs 18-55 2.8 on Gitzo. A view of Sofa Mountain in Waterton Lakes NP, Alberta. This area enjoys dramatic skies and a constantly changing weatherfront, similar to the weather in Glacier NP just to south of us. This is a typical change in winter with the wind blowing like crazy and a storm bearing down on us from the southwest. The wetlands is known as Bee Bee Flats, part of the Blackfoot Nation bordering the park. A great spot for moose but they must have taken shelter this day as there was not an animal to be seen.

Great shot, Steve--you can really feel the power of the winds up on that ridge!

I can feel the drama in this scene, Steve, and I think you captured the incoming storm quite well. Nice addition to the WC. Out of curiosity, are you noticing any increase in the water level in the wetlands?

Great light in the image too and the almost L-shaped frozen water adds interest to the image.

Looking at this one makes me want to reach for my coat. Very nice. There is definitely a mystery here too. It's the Green trees vs. the whijte ones. Aspens I presume? I love the fresh snow and the departing clouds.

Nice light in this image. Wow, subtle but so effective in establishing a mood. I like the implied action in those clouds. Looks like they were bustling through.

Excellent. Even without the well-matched WC theme, this is a fine landscape image. Well done.

BTW, Steve, I had not noticed that you are a relative new-comer to NPN.

Welcome aboard. The more I look at this image, the better I realize it is ... :toast:
