Morni Hills, North India

1D2N, 500mm+2x, tripod
f/11, 1/320, ISO320

Made a quick weekend trip to the mountains recently. Found a lot of new species but had only two sessions to photograph them. I guess that gives me a reason to visit the place again.
Found this beauty flitting around in late afternoon light. I wish I had some more room on the left.
All comments, critique and reposts welcome. Thanks for looking.

Lovely image of a very neat bird - I like the plumage detail and also the foreground leaves.

This is lovely Satie, sweet light and I like the surroundings, as you say a littel more room on the left top would be perfect

That's some bird.. :jump:
Does the 'hair' ever go down, and stay up only when alert or something? Just curious...
Wonderful afternoon light, maybe just a tad too harsh

Chi, the birds that I have seen so far all had their crests raised. So, I think the crest stays up all the time.

Beautiful. Composition looks fine to me. I had wondered about the OOF orange flowers and tried covering them but they definitely add value.

Just beautiful Satie - the comp works fine for me and I love the subtle orange to the right. And the bird is fabulous.

It is a very gorgeous image, as everyone says. And the composition is enhanced by the location of the orange flower to the right, so I think the lack of room to the left is more than compensated for.
