and probably wanting some CORN! :jump: Another one from the Choke Canyon trip where several of us Texas NPNers gathered for a great weekend shoot - even with the cruddy weather, we all had a great time!

This doe sauntered up to my vehicle while I was waiting for a buck to come out of hiding... she sure seemed to be smiling...

Nikon D100, Sigma 105mm EX Macro, Aperture priority @ f/5.6
Shutter 1/80s, Natural light, Matrix metered, Auto white balance
ISO 200, Braced on car door, Full frame.

What's she smiling for, Michael? :jump:

Good looking happy doe.

Great expression Michael, I think she knew what was hiding from you. Excellent detail and composition. :toast:

This is impressive (also expressive!)! Exposure - right on; focus - tack sharp; BG - delightfully subdued and vague; composition - no nits here either. This captures "...the essence of the beast." Deer have such large expressive eyes (the better adaptation for low light levels) and this image captures this so well. The expression on the doe is such that one cannot help but anthrpomorphize somewhat; the image almost begs for a caption contest. The amount of detail in the image is incredible: nose dimples, ear hairs, etc. If anyone ever doubted the ability of a 6MP digital camera to capture detail, this image is proof of that capability. Congratulations on an excellent capture (but you already know that!)! :toast: :toast: :toast:

Super image. Impressive detail attesting to a perfect exposure. Nice background and a great expression.

There must have been _something_ funny  With such a short lens it must have been real close! The doe almost seems to hold its head backwards to avoid hitting your lens :jump:

Ok that`s my imagination at work  but this is an excellent portrait and no nits to pick as far as I can see.

I like it, Michael. She has kind of a startled expression on her face.

Kind of like going to a zoo there it almost seems, without the protective fences though, Great shot and with a macro lens on top of it all, super sharp and I think she was smiling because she likes your car :)

Great expression captured here and I like the background. Again, colors are a little on the cool side for me. ....Maybe I've lived in Velvia Land too long!

I think you got a camera hog there, she defiantly looks like she was enjoying having her portrait done. Wonderful shot!
