A 22 mile dead end but offering probably the most excitingly varied landscape scenery in Scotland from birch tree lined lochs to vast vistas and intimate waterfalls and of course this wonderful derelict red rust roofed stone hovel. Still what a view to wake up to on a fine morning. The rust coloured hills alive (if that's the word) with dead bracken turn it to a sumptuous colour especially when the clouds create rafts of sunlight across the high fells. Composition poltely fell into place for me.

By the way this is the exact colour of the original transparency and a very good match for my memory of the scene.

A really beautiful image Ian. Great composition and a lot of things to look at all over the image, it keeps the eye busy for a long time, which IMO makes a great photograph.

Amazing light! Glad that the composition was so polite. Some of them are like that yet others can be just soooo rude...

Color seems a bit strong for me (no surprise for Velvia) but it's a great photograph and composition.

Techs are Pentax 67II, 55-100 zoom, polariser, 0.6ND soft edged grad, F22 at 1 sec, Velvia 50.

Perhaps the colour is saturated, the polariser certainly reduces surface reflections but I wish fervently that you could see the colour of these hills after a rain soaking and for the two weeks in the year it reaches this peak of colour, it is truly mind blowing and to be honest I remember these colours as vividly as if I was standing back on that damp soggy bluff taking it's picture again.

Ian: My father was in Scotland in WWII and always spoke highly of it. With views like this I can understand why. What time of year does this show play? Exceptional image with truly eye p  pping color. Bravo. >=))>

Bill it was in the second week of November just after most of the leaves had fallen. The colour gets progressively darker and browner in the subsequent two weeks.

This is just amazing Ian. This may well be among your most memorable IMO. Congrats on the EP. Actually, this may be deserving of 2 or 3 EP's (plus an Oscar thrown in for fun). Superb.

Ian, I am now most certainly a fan of your landscape work. This is a masterpiece of capturing dramatic light on a marvelous scene. I think you politely put yourself at the right time and place to take full advantage of this! Will look forward to seeing more of images.
Hearty congrats on getting an EP for it, too. Well deserved.

Ian, your images are the envy of this recent transplant to Southern Utah. This broken light is exquisite, not to mention the color and form. Thanks.
