A nice cold morning got the fog rising off this pond. I loved how the sun lit it up with the bit of fall color coming through.

You captured a wonderful mood with the mist rising from the water, Michelle. I particularly like the warm light in the trees and in the reflection in the water. My only suggestion would be to crop out the sky to emphasize the rising mist more.

This is beautiful. I think it can be made even better by adding a gradient layer to the sky and darkening it.

Hmm, this looks familiar I like what the fog does to the place, but don't care for that much sky.

Beautiful image Michelle! Love the mood the fog creates and the nice warm light. Count me in with Ed and Tony with cropping out the sky. Overall, a very beautiful image.

Great light and that mist is perfect, I think a crop of the sky would help

Mmmmh! sweet image. looks very painterly.
i think there could be another good version of it as a horizontal, without that much sky at the top.
a photo editor would tell you it's a perfect covershot, with all the space at the top, while a fine print viewer would most likely would want to see it more balanced...

Michelle, I really like this one! I agree with both suggestions for the sky - either darken it or crop it out altogether.
A shot worthy of the NPN cover.

Michelle, this image is gorgeous. The mood you have captured here is just fantastic. I love the light and the way it helps make the mist pop out. I say crop out the sky it really doesn't add anything to this shot.
Excellent shot and thanks for sharing

This is a gorgeous scene Michelle. The golden light on the water is just fantastic. The only part of the sky that bothers me is the little patch of blue in the ULC, other than that it's fine IMO. Beautiful.

Hey Michelle, that's a great shot! Congrats on the EP - well deserved. The bottom two thirds is just like an old Dutch painting by Ruysdael or Rembrandt.

Even if any of us regularly sought out such light when conditions were favorable, it would be a rare morning to witness anything as fine as your well captured scene. Ed commented on cropping out the sky. The portion of sky as displayed would be fine for most compositions. However the brightness of the sky does tend to grab some of the attention that might be better focused at lower areas. However instead of fully cropping it out, in order to create better frame geometry and balance, you might try balancing the top by shortening it to mirror the bottom sky reflection. Also you might try increasing contrast slightly with the tree at left causing the left tree reflection, with its dim background. ...David

Michelle,
let me also congratulate you to this marvelous image, and of course to the editors pick... I f there wpild be something I would change, then I would crop the sky at the upper part of the picture. I think it gets a bit more mystical if you do so...
