The maples are starting to shed their colorful coats. Winter will be here soon.

I like the story this tells of transition and a willingness to let go. Looks like the maples had a good year.

I love the maple carpet and how the branches reach out to the corners of the frame. The one thing that bothers me a bit is the perspective of the shot...I feel like I would like to see this from a lower perspective, but that would not likely introduce an unwanted BG.

You have an almost unmatched talent for turning intimate scenes into wonderful compositions. A much more difficult skill than the grand scenic vista.

There's something very tender about this image. My eye keeps going to the yellow leaves nestled in the crook of the tree. Wonderful, moving piece of art.

That's funny, Adam. I was there with Michael Gordon and kept telling him how this smell of decaying leaves is to me an inseparable part of the "feel" of autumn.

Yep, and we were there after and during some rainfall - the aroma was stimulating! Guy doesnt mention how he cloned me out of this scene after asking me to do a sexy pose in the opening

Love the image, Guy. Rather metaphorical in a number of ways. Thanks for taking me into this canyon.

Very nice Guy. The naked limbs somehow feel protective to me. Maybe it's the mother in me.... Anyway this has a soft sentimental feel to it and of course superbly composed.

This is wonderful-as mentioned the branches look like they are reaching down to protect the leaves.Almost like a momma duck duck still trying to tuck in her babies that are already fledging. An inspiring image.

Are you familiar with Lonard Cohen's music? Because this reminds of a lyric from a song of his;

It's dark now and it's snowing
O my love I must be going,
The river has started to freeze.
And I'm sick of pretending
I'm broken from bending
I've lived too long on my knees.

Something you two have in common, you know how to tell a story, with beauty and eloquence but most of all truth. Every picture tells a story.

Guy,

Even though this was posted long ago, I just came across it ...

Great composition; the tree does seem to be welcoming me with its branches.

Interesting colors and you even captured the wonderful patterns of the leaves.

And I for one would sure not want to sit there. I don't think those tree branches would let me go.

Looking at your composition, something seems to be strange. Just a wonderful and always surprising nature, that continues to find a different way to show its beauty.
Thank you for posting.

I'd bet you might have seen this silhouetted low to the ground branch subject possibility well before leaves had dropped. This type of graphic is something I have found a few times in my 35mm SLR days. Works with both leaves and dense wildflowers. Beautiful coverage of interesting leaves here makes for a great composition. ...David
