Here's a shot from Saturday morning at Great Sand Dunes NPP. Three of us from CNP had an enjoyable weekend camping trip there. Not the most productive photographically, but lots of fun.

There it is! I knew there was a reason I was wanting to see this again. WIld and fun shot. It's like two parts in one. I originally thought this is looking downslope, but now I'm thinking it's looking up! I'd say you definitely succeeded. Well done, Rich!

Hi Rich!

I like simple forms in this photo! Very nice indeed.

The back looks almost like a big wave so there seems to be some sea
Terrific colors and patterns !

Nice forms, and textures with some great light, very nice. Seems to have a slight magenta cast, though hard to judge not having seen the original.

This is an awesome abstract, Rich. Wonderful sense of motion portrayed with the sand in the BG.

Rich,

I beg to differ with you, photgraphically it looks like the trip was a winner! (if that makes any sense) This is a great composition. Bold lines and great texture.

Thanks for the compliments, everyone.

I tried to get the colors as close to the original as I could, but it's very slightly off. Digital editing is not one of my skills. I moved a few feet and shot a different composition of this scene on Velvia 100F. I was amazed at how much cooler that shot is than this one on Velvia 50. That's probably old news to most of you, but I hadn't ever shot the same scene with both films and was very surprised by the difference.

Rich:

This is awesome! Love the sweep of the dune from FG to BG. It's a little magenta on my screen. Really a cool abstract. Glad you guys had a good time.

Great contrast with the many different dune formations. Excellent shadows, too. Well seen, Rich! Wish I could've joined you.

Not productive huh? Looks like a keeper to me and then some. I am glad to get one killer shot in a weekend myself.

What an interesting contrast between a graceful FG and a rather chaotic BG. Well seen!

A highly absorbing and interesting photo Richard. The swirls set the image in motion and depict the ever changing state of such places well.
