Red-Winged Blackbird

I went down to Ridgefield NWR last week and while the light was low and the action pretty slow (migration doesn't seem to be bringing much in yet), I di manage a few images.  I had a pretty good time with a couple of RWBBs at the beginning of the loop.  I saw a flock of them foraging in the cattails, so I just stopped and waited and a couple finally came to the front of the reeds.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 313 mm, balanced on pipe insulation on car window, f/8, 1/125, iso 3200, aperture priority, pattern metering.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to 11.7 MP.  Taken at 7:12 am on August 24th under cloudy skies.

Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,

Very nice detail in the blacks here Dennis, looks like flat overcast lighting.  I might warm up the image a bit. devil

Very nice frame of this juvenile on an interesting perch, Dennis. Techs look perfect, but I think you can bump up the saturation a little - to me the reeds look a little flat.

Pretty cool, Dennis. It's really nice to get one at eye level. I like the soft colors and lighting for this. For me they're always higher up in brighter conditions.
