Visiting the Sevegre Region of the Costa Rican Highlands this year offered numerous opportunities to photograph this magnificent bird.  I was watching this guy on the perch before the sun came up  when a blast of wind kicked up and split his tail feathers fairly symmetrically. This created a bit more tension in the image than most of the other shots and it's why this is my favorite RQ shot from the visit.

Thanks for taking a look.

Very cool, Chuck.  The curves of the tail feather do add a lot to the image.

What a stunning bird and the tail is amazing spread out like this Chuck, I wouldn't mind a little more room on the left. Sweet shot! devil

Stunning bird and perch, Chuck. I can see why this is your favorite with the split tail. The size of the quetzal in the frame is ideal, but I too would like a little more room the left. There appears to be some background noise in the large version that's easily taken care of. Fine image.

Of course, the bird is already a treat, but the feathers and the overall setting add a lot and make for a wonderful balanced image devil.  Cheers, Hans

Wow!  Great perch, pose, and some nice soft light.
