Nikon D7100 16-85mm, 16mm, f11 @ 1/125, ISO 500, handheld

This image made late spring, just off trail in the Little Lakes Valley area of the Eastern Sierras. If it was not for the mosquitoes, I would have stayed longer and set up the tripod. I liked the small open cascades and the assorted rounded rocks. Used a grad filter in Lightroom to enhance both elements in the photo.  Thanks in advance for your comments and critique.

This is nice, Stephen. I think not being able to set up your tripod worked out ok here. It's nice to see some water shots once in awhile where the shutter speed gives a more quote "realistic" look to the flow.

I really like what you came away with here considering you did not have a tripod, Stephen. I can relate to the hordes of mosquitoes as I hate those blood suckers and they seem to have an affinity for me. surprise I like the diagonal placement of the stream as it draws me nicely into the frame. My only suggestion; and this is just a personal preference; would be a little crop of about half of the sky above that middle tree. Either way this is nicely done. On a side note about the mosquitoes; my daughter bought a Therma Cell for me and that seems to work well as I am not a fan of spraying DEET on my body.

Stephen, the stream looks very inviting and the big open S of cascades works well at pulling my eyes to the gently lit mountains in the distance.  Overall the view seems dark to me.  I think opening up the middle ground (both forest and stream) to match the foreground brightness would be a good improvement.

Stephen, Nice job shooting this without the tripod. I have ran into mosquitoes so bad that I have done the same thing, and I'm even used to them for the most part. I like seeing a faster shutter on the water once in awhile too and it worked out very nice here. Looking at the large version makes me feel like I could be standing right there but I can enjoy it from my studio with no mosquitoes.

What a lovely take on one of my favorite locations in the Sierra. This one has turned out very nicely Stephen.
