Boulder and Grasses

My brother Ed and I headed out on our photo trip with high hopes of glorious sunrises and sunsets along the rocky shores of Maine and the lupine fields of New Hampshire. Alas nature didn't cooperate so we had to look elsewhere for inspiration. I found this interesting little mini-landscape near Jordan Pond in Acadia National Park.

I like the simple, balanced composition.  Nice to mix up the portfolio with these quieter kinds of images.  How many blazing sunrise shots can we stand!  The grasses look a little overly yellow to me, as do the reds?  Maybe my monitor.  Gives the impression of less contrast.  Otherwise it's very pleasing.

I like this very much Michael. The overall warm cast works well here and the centered composition is good because of the more or less symmetrical shape of the rock. The large version shows the rich color and detail that the camera is capable of capturing. Nice work.

The details and textures come alive in the larger version and the centered composition works rather nicely, Mike. I really like the quiet beauty you captured in this miniature landscape. I hope you remembered to shoot me one. We certainly got skunked on the sunrise/sunset opportunities this trip didn't we.

Feel like this is a good large format candidate.  You did a good job getting some of that 3d look here.  Nicely seen.

I like this image, Michael.  The contrasting shapes, texture, and color between the rocks and vegetation work well.  The reds and greens come together to make a great color palette.  Nicely done!  devil
