This was taken about a week ago in Lassen Volcanic NP.  This is one of the few semi-iconic photo locations in the park.  It is from Upper Kings Creek Meadow.  D800e, 28-70 @ 38, 1/25, f16, ISO 320.  Thanks for any constructive criticism on this.

Always love the mix of spring - or summer greens with a snowy backdrop - Really shows how elevation plays a role in a place.  I can see that you wanted to include the green foliage on the right and keep the brook sweep in the view, but it creates a bit of brown area in that corner.  I'm torn whether a crop off the right to include only a small portion of the central brown area would be an improvement. Maybe a 4x5 crop.  Beautiful scene in any case.

I agree with you Harry.  I also was torn between keeping most of the brook in the scene and thus also having to include the brown area.  It is actually a compromise in that I could have included more on the right, but it didn't match the rest of the scene.  The only alternative I could see at the time I took the photograph would have involved getting further to the right and into the stream, whose bottom was probably a foot of silt.  I didn't want to kick all that silt up, which didn't seem environmentally sensitive.  Had it been a rocky stream I would not have hesitated.  Thanks for your input.

Good comments so far. I think I would crop up from the bottom to the point where the stream comes back in from the side of the frame.

I actually like this just as is. The brown doesn't bother me a bit, it's Nature, and kt adds variety to the colors here. I like the wide expanse shown.  It is very peaceful, and to me it is balanced. I also like how the zig zags show up in the FG.
