Fresh Snow

This was taken a couple weeks back the morning after a small snowstorm blew through CT. The forecast looked like it would be clearing right around sunrise, so I went down to a local golf course. This was one of the first shots I took. I do wish I could have gotten a bit more separation between the tree and background, but I do like it as is. I look forward to your comments!

The pristine conditions are excellent and the image is well balanced.  Very natural processing which I appreciate.  Maybe shooting lower would have gotten better separation, but looks very good as is.  Could be a greeting card.

This looks real nice, Craig. It would be fun to convert this to B&W and see what you get (and how it changes the mood of the image). Fine winter scene.

Craig,

What a gorgeous winter wonderland scene.  I'd say a picture-perfect postcard; it's just missing the obligatory red barn... but I don't see a good spot for one anyway. cool

Beautiful.  No nits or suggestions.

I agree with Harry; I think this would make a great Christmas or winter greeting card! That slight buildup of snow around the base of the tree trunk really stands out, and I think the location of every tree in here is just right.  I don't think you could have planned it better.  It has a nice 3D quality to it, too.

Very peaceful mood here. The large version really shows off the delicate branches and the subtle detail in the snow. Well seen, and nicely processed. The encroachment of the tree branches on the right does not bother me at all.

This gives the feeling of being a "pure" landscape. Such a pristine location photographed in perfect conditions. There is a certain magic about winter and you have captured it perfectly in this image.

Craig, very nice job with the composition here. You've got just the right balance between foreground and sky, and you have created a nice arrangement of the other trees around the main tree. i also like the exposure and texture in the clouds, you hnadled that perfectly. I like the white balance you used in your processing, it creates a real winter feel to this image. Definitely would make a wonderful Christmas card.

The scene with the two main trees, the clean fresh snow, and the still mostly cloudy sky is great, Craig.  You composed this very well.

I really like the lighting.   The contrast between the sharp definition in the trees and the puffy clouds really makes this composition work well.  It reminds me of the times I spent in New England as a child enjoying the fresh snow.  (I lived in New Haven in the mid-50s)
