Leading Lines - WC# 802
Stumps, Lumps, and Bumps
I'm not sure this meets the WC theme exactly, so if not please feel free to move or remove......
It's been quite sometime since I photographed this bleached out old tree stump out at JTNP, but it does posses some lines here. Although admittedly they're more corkscrew or circular in nature and might not be perceived as leading lines.....
I do recall the late afternoon that I did photograph this was very hot and dry. The canyon is a bit remote and trying to work the camera and the shade disk was a bit tough with the late afternoon added breeze through the canyon.
Thank you in advance for your C&C's and please review the LARGER version too......

This looks remarkably like a dog that wants a treat. It's pretty awesome.

Yep. A begging dog, Ana. Maybe even a bear. Nice shot, Paul. Excellent in all respects.

Paul, it's a different take from what I had in mind, but I like the broadened concept and this image, with it's lovely swirling lines and inviting warm colors. This reminds me very much of a dog's nose, and I want to pet it... What a great find in an old stump.

Thank you each for your kind comments here. I kind of see the dog & bear faces now too......
@ Mark, I was not too sure about the leading line thing. I kind of got the feel for maybe a FG to BG leading our eyes into a scene, but I thought this just might fit with leading our eyes circular around the old stump surface.....

Not exactly "straight" lines, Paul, but they sure lead my eye around the image. Beautiful work.

This has the look of an old bear Paul. I love the lines of the nose and eyes here. Well seen and shot. Nice details in the large version of the wood grains too.

Paul,
Congrats on the WP! I need to visit here more often. Maybe even post weekly challenge image! what a concept.
Exceptional image Paul. Not sure if I've seen this before, but this is outstanding. You know me and weathered trees - I'm quite jealous of this one.
The color, detail and processing in general is terrfic. It's the subject matter and what you've seen and captured that is really captivating. Can't help but calling out the prominent snout; a dog surely, but how about a brown bear! A great image that lets the imagination run with with.
