About eight years ago we had a pretty good ice storm that did a number on a lot of trees, including this birch in our neighbor's yard.  I happened to be out with my birding lens and saw it covered with frost from freezing fog when I got home.  At the time I was thinking of using the shot for the "winter without snow" challenge, but ended up posting other images, so I decided to process this one for the "Trees" challenge.  There isn't really any angle to get complete separation from other trees and shrubs, but this felt pretty decent to me.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 150 mm, handheld, f/11 1/1600, iso 800, aperture priority, pattern metering, + 1/3 EV.  Slight crop from the left and a bit more off the top.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Taken at 11:47 AM on January 14th.

Comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Pretty cool to get an entire tree heavily frosted like this, Dennis.  It stands out pretty well from it's neighbors.  I think you could tighten up the view here and emphasize the tree more with a crop from the left and off the top.

I love the way this tree is covered with frost and it looks so beautiful in front of the lovely blue sky!

I agree with Mark that this wonderfully ice covered tree would be better illustrated with some judicious cropping taking it off center.

I think the simple color palette mitigates some of the extra branches on the side and bottom. This is simple and nice. You could experiment with crops from either side I think.

This is really different, and very beautiful with the blue sky.
