Escalante Spring

You may recall some images of Escalante I took during my visit there last May. I took this one as I was leaving after shooting sunrise in Devil's Garden. The leaves on the trees were just emerging. D600, 24-85 @ 62, cpl, f16, iso 200, 1/30, tpd, single image, ff.

Beautiful landscape that I should try and visit some day. The mix of colors here are very nice and the sky with those clouds made a perfect backdrop for this scene.

This has a nice color palette--warm reds, and cool greens. The sky and clouds lends good depth to the scene. The Porcessing looks real nice, Scott.

You have nicely captured the look and feel of the area. The trees starting to pop out adds a lot to it too. Pretty country.

I like the emerging leaves on the cottonwoods and the sage.  They contrast nicely with some of the reds in the image...early spring is a fantastic time of the year to be in the Utah desert.  One small critique...the immediate foreground doesn't quite hold up to the rest of the scene, at least for me.

It took me a long time but I do get this image. I do get it. And the fact that it took the investment of time makes me appreciate it even more. It's one of those images that hides it's value through being plain. I do feel the greens are just a bit too strong here.

Thank you for taking the time and for your observations, Igor. Much appreciated. Yes, no great drama, but I liked the mix of colors and textures showing spring in this environment. I don't see this as being "plain" but maybe that's just personal to me. Good to have another, more objective take on it.  As for the greens, I actually worked to make the greens stand out from the background, at least in the trees (I was concerned the trees blended into the bg), and may have gone too far. crying

Scott,

Love the mix of color throughout in this landscape image.  You've got a complimentary sky and I like the spring greens intermixed among the brush below the trees.  IF the greens are too strong, for me it would be those little bushes and not the trees.  But I'm really enjoying this peaceful landscape as presented.  Great recognition of a worthwhile subject.

This is a very understated but beautifully conceived image, Scott. It is one of those images that you need to take the time to look and really appreciate all the subtle shades of color and details in this desert landscape. The clouds in the sky complete the scene perfectly for me. I am glad you found this scene as you were leaving.

Scott, a wonderful scene. This truly has that high desert look to it and the unmistakable Utah coral color terrain throughout. This dabbled light here is perfect for this time of day photo. Looks like you had some decent weather for your visit too.
My recent trip to that same area was well, rained out a bit. The road to Devil's Garden was a real mess. The wind one night along with heavy rains kept triggering my low level alarm on my vehicle. Needless to say, it was a rough outing. cheeky
