Dark Hollow Falls, Shenandoah NP, VA. There wasn't much water flowing, but the fog added a little atmosphere.

Michael, That fog really did add such a nice atmosphere to this. Nice job setting up this composition and looks like the perfect shutter speed with the water. Love the misty greens and the soft mysterious mood is just wonderful. Very nicely done!!

Great use of framing. The branches are a great addition to this image also because they bring a level of detail to the image that's missing in the fog. As you ascend from dark to light the frame adds to the glory up high. It might be interesting to see this a bit warmer just as an experiment.

The flow through the scene works very well. I like how my eye glides up the cascades to the forest, and the overhanging branches keep me in the frame. The fog adds a nice glow and provides a quietness to the mood. Nicely done, Micheal.

Nice overall mood, and you filled in that hole at the top nicely with the branch. Well done.

Very pretty scene, and I like how the branches on top help frame the image. Maybe you could experiment with brightening some of the lighter tones in the bottom half of the image to help counterbalance the sky? The sky is not a problem by itself but it pulls my eye a bit because it is brighter than the areas up close.

Beautifully composed and otherwise taken, Michael. The fog creates a great mood. The water volume is certainly sufficient for a nice flow, and the lower volume actually adds to the peaceful mood created by the fog. You could bring up the exposure in the LLC which may create the look of more water.

Michael,
Fabulous mood and atmosphere! The fact that you were able to include the branches and leaves up top really makes this whole image work for me. Without it, you've got a distracting bright area, and with it, well it just frames the top of the image perfectly as well as providing a little light/airiness to an otherwise dark, moody scene. Excellent!

The moodiness with the fog makes this a winner despite the low flow. Sometimes low flow is better in that the slow shutter speed makes the water look just right - slower shutter speeds with high flow may loose some of the the nice long streaks of water. My only suggestion might be to slightly darken the bright sky areas in the top of the frame. The top branch fills the void nicely. The water seems to have slight greenish tinge, so I might try color correcting that to more of a white. Fine comp.

So moody, and the shutter speed is excellent; giving the water that beautiful syrupy texture.

This is flat out gorgeous, Mike. I actually think this flow level works beautifully; just enough detail and texture while giving you a sense of motion. I also like the way you used those leaves to fill in the bright area of sky and the fog lends a wonderful sense of mystery and mood to this beautiful waterfall. Perfect image IMO.
