Woodland in Autumn

This mixed woodland in Cheshire lies on a sandstone escarpment, and much of it has little or no undergrowth.

Beautiful fall scene. The carpeting of leaves is excellent!! The image has a nice painterly feel, too. Real sweet.

This is nice Autumn scene. The composition is nicely balanced and I like the openness of the forest. The greens look a little over-saturated to me, but that is a minor tweak. I like the red leaves against the yellows and the hint of blue sky. Real nice image, Ian.

Wonderful autumn scene, Ian. The light, fall color and carpet of leaves makes this very inviting.

Ian,

A beautiful, airy, autumn forest scene. The openness or airiness, allows the viewer to wander in and around the frame. I agree with Harley too in that this has a painterly look to it.

The only small nit I have is something funky is going on around the first 3 big trees on the left.  Some color fringing, or chromatic aberrations on those trunks.  Hard to say without seeing the file up close, but the edges of those trunks look weird to me.  Not overly obvious, so that makes it a fairly minor thing in the overall scheme of things.

What a wonderful, serene autumn composition! the colour combinations and perfect perspective to place the trees in such a pleasing arrangement is just exceptional.

Very pleasant autumn scene.  The openness on the left side draws one into the picture.  The color is very soothing.  I thought Lon's  comment and I suspect what he is seeing is leaf motion due to the longer exposure.

What a wonderfully inviting scene, Ian.  The touch of glow in the distance creates a great sense of depth.  Yes, there's a distinct painterly feeling to this that the lack of undergrowth helps create.

This would be such a great place to explore due to the lack of undergrowth - I can see why you like it.  Nice composition - I like the arch formed by the branches in the foreground trees.

Your beautiful picture reminds me of how much I miss "clean" forests, with no undergrowth - not the case here in the SE US!! The light and colors are almost a watercolor!!
